JACS Toronto is an organization that provides support to overdose victims in Kitchener / Waterloo, Ontario. JACS Toronto stands for Justice, Access and Care Support Services and they provide a range of services to those affected by substance use issues. They offer harm reduction services such as naloxone kits, safe injection supplies, sharps disposal containers and peer-led outreach programs. They also provide counselling sessions with trained professionals who specialize in addiction recovery as well as one-on-one support from peers living with similar experiences of addiction or substance misuse. In addition to these services they run public education campaigns aimed at reducing stigma around drug use while promoting healthy coping strategies through their website and social media platforms such as Facebook Live events featuring guest speakers on topics related to mental health awareness & harm reduction practices
In response the opioid crisis JACS Toronto has launched several initiatives including the launch of a mobile app which connects people who are struggling with an issue related to drugs or alcohol directly into contact with local resources available within their community including emergency contacts like 911 call centers if needed . The app also allows users access information about medication assisted treatments (MAT) so that individuals can make informed decisions when seeking treatment options for themselves or others close them . Furthermore, there have been multiple training sessions offered throughout Waterloo Region where healthcare providers learn how best administer Naloxone Kits which are distributed free of charge via pharmacies across the region.
