JACS Toronto is a non-profit organization that works to reduce the harms associated with substance use in Hamilton, Ontario. They provide support for individuals who are struggling with an overdose or other related issues. JACS Toronto offers a variety of programs and services to help people in need, including peer support groups, one-on-one counselling sessions and education on harm reduction techniques such as naloxone administration.
One of their main focuses is providing safe access to clean needles and syringes so that those using drugs can do so safely without risk of infection or injury from contaminated equipment. Additionally they offer free testing kits for HIV/AIDS which helps ensure users know their status before engaging in any risky behaviour while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Furthermore they also distribute naloxone kits which can be used if someone has overdosed on opioids; this medication reverses opioid overdoses within minutes allowing them time to seek further medical attention if needed afterwards
In addition JACS Toronto provides outreach workers who visit local parks where drug use may occur; these workers provide information about safer drug practices as well as connect individuals with necessary resources such as housing options or mental health supports when available . All of these initiatives work together towards reducing stigma around addiction while helping keep our community safe by preventing unnecessary deaths due to overdose.
