JACS Toronto is a non-profit organization that works to reduce the harms associated with substance use in communities across Ontario. The organization has been providing support for overdose prevention and response since 2016, when it opened its first office in Guelph, Ontario.
The JACS Toronto team works closely with local partners such as police services, health care providers and community organizations to provide evidence-based programs that help prevent overdoses and respond appropriately if one occurs. These programs include training on how to recognize the signs of an overdose; distributing naloxone kits; providing supervised injection sites (where people can inject drugs under medical supervision); offering education about addiction treatment options; connecting individuals with appropriate resources when needed; running outreach campaigns around drug safety issues like fentanyl awareness or needle exchange services; and advocating for policy changes at all levels of government related to harm reduction initiatives.
In addition to these direct supports provided by JACS Toronto staff members, they also serve as a bridge between service providers within their network who may not otherwise be connected or aware of each other’s work – helping ensure no gaps exist in the continuum of care available for those affected by substance use disorder or experiencing an overdose situation in Guelph, Ontario. All together this comprehensive approach helps create safer spaces where people are able to access necessary resources without stigma or judgement so they can get back on track towards recovery quickly after any incident involving substances occurs – ultimately saving lives!
