The JACS Concerned Persons Group was developed for those struggling to cope with the behavior of addicts/alcoholics who are in either in active addiction or early recovery. The weekly meeting uses an intensive group format to discuss issues surrounding enabling, co-dependency and family dynamics.
The group encourages participants to take an honest look at their own behaviors and see how their best intentions can often make a bad situation worse. Utilizing feedback and sharing of personal experiences, the meeting allows participants to learn from each others struggles and victories.
Together, the facilitators moderate the discussion while providing insight into addict and family dynamics based on personal experience and clinical theory.
The emphasis of the group is to encourage participants to ensure they are taking care of themselves, both mentally and physically, and not allowing addict behavior to destroy their own health and well-being. It also pushes participants to make difficult decisions while becoming more conscious of how their actions improve or hurt their respective situations.
Time: Tuesdays from 7:30 to 9:30
Status: Open to all concerned about another’s addiction
